Anybody who has ever touched a keyboard has probably thought of similar things to do with that computer. Incredibly it has changed our life. As in everything there are positives and negatives. I recall some years ago when somebody was talking about how they needed to upgrade their computer because theirs was too slow, and thinking to myself there must be better ways to spend your money. It is probably indicative of our lives generally in the West, and even more so in the USA. I remember replying to that person that speed wasn't everything and how I was thrilled that my computer worked!
Somehow I have succumbed to the dreaded members of society called 'speed-freaks.' When I was growing up, 'speed-freaks' was my friends (never myself) who enjoyed the high associated with speed (drugs)! I never liked how it made me feel afterwards. All I wanted to do was sleep once the high wore off or take more speed.
However, I digress. All of my students have heard one time or another the battle of opinions regarding the PC and the MAC. Of course, I never give in and remind them the MAC is THE STANDARD for computers in the graphic design field. This is what MACS were made for. Great speed and ease of use is just one of the extra benefits!
So…if you feel the temptation to do as Theodore and prove your point, go ahead if you have a PC. It is probably the smartest thing you will do in life. If, however, you have a MAC and feel tempted to toss it out the window—don't. They are too bloody expensive. GO MAC!
